Kim Kardashian and Kanye West led to controversy last week after they landed the cover of the April 2014 issue of American Vogue. Some readers threatened the publication with canceling their subscription and stop buying the magazine, while others claimed that they would buy the issue to burn it. The fashion world got indignant (a lot) and the magazine’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour justified herself. However, her gesture wasn’t enough to calm the indignation of the readers, who feel betrayed. Will this polemic cost her job? Who said Anna or Vogue were perfect?

Kim Kardashian y Kanye West han encendido la polémica al salir en la portada del número de abril de 2014 de la versión estadounidense de la revista Vogue. Algunos lectores han amenazado a la publicación con cancelar su suscripción y dejar de comprar la revista, mientras que otros han proclamado que comprarían el número con la intención de quemarlo. El mundo de la moda se ha indignado (y mucho) y la editora en jefe de la revista Anna Wintour se ha justificado. Save the date! Fashion Revolution Day

Next April 24 2014 a brand new initiative will take place around the world: Fashion Revolution Day, coinciding with the first anniversary of the factory complex Rana Plaza disaster in Dhaka (Bangladesh), where 1133 people were killed when the building collapsed. The global campaign's aim is to turn "fashion into a force for good." In Barcelona (Spain) a fashion show based on ethics and sustainability will be held at Palau Robert (at 5 pm, 6 pm and 7 pm). 

El próximo 24 de abril tendrá lugar la iniciativa global Fashion Revolution Day, coincidiendo con el primer aniversario del desastre de la fábrica textil Rana Plaza en Dhaka (Bangladesh), donde 1133 personas murieron por causa del derrumbe del edificio. El objetivo de la campaña es transformar la moda en una fuerza positiva. Barcelona acogerá un desfile de moda sostenible en el Palau Robert (habrás tres pases: a las 17 h, las 18 h y las 19 h).

Inderum, the new fashion, art and design pop-up store in Barcelona

Last weekend, took place Inderum, a new pop-up store concept in Barcelona that supports emerging design. From Friday, March 21, until March 23, the event presented the creations of young artists and designers in the Sixtyfour Apartments, located in the prestigious Passeig de Gràcia, 64.

There is a lot of controversy surrounding Kim Kardashian and Kanye West's Vogue US April 2014 cover. Miss Piggy and Kermie spoof of the famous couple starring the cover of Vague magazine. Miss Piggy posted the picture on her Facebook and said: "Kermie and Moi are honored to be featured on the cover of Vague as the #UniversesMostTalkedAboutCouple!! (Are you surprised, though?)." 

James Franco also drew a parody of them with Seth Rogen. He photoshopped the original picture in his Instagram and with all the talk Anna Wintour felt the public pressure to make a statement about the cover. All this may be too much and quite disrespectful, although I have to admit that it's kind of funny. The real question is: What happened to Anna? What is wrong with Vogue?

LA POLÉMICA PORTADA DE VOGUE CON KIM KARDASHIAN Y KANYE WEST. La portada de Kim Kardashian y Kanye West para la Vogue americana ha generado mucha controversia. La señorita Peggy y la rana Gustavo parodian a la famosa pareja apareciendo en la portada de la revista Vague. La señorita Peggy colgó una fotografía en su página de Facebook y dijo: "Es un gran honor para Kermie y Moi aparecer en la portada de Vague como la #LaParejaMásFamosaDelUniverso!! (¿Pero, os sorprende?)". 

El actor James Franco también los ha parodiado junto con Seth Rogen. Aplicó Photoshop a la fotografía original y la compartió en su Instagram. Por todo ello, Anna Wintour al frente de Vogue US se ha visto obligada a responder a la polémica. Quizá estas parodias sean un poco irrespetuosas, pero tengo que admitir que tienen su gracia.  La cuestión es: ¿Qué le ha pasado a Anna? ¿Y qué le pasa a Vogue?

Cristobal Balenciaga was born in this house

Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre (Getaria, 1895 – Jávea, Alicante 1972), one of the most important couturiers of the twentieth century, was born in Getaria, a beautiful fishing village near San Sebastian, Spain, on January 21st 1985, at five in the afternoon at 10 Zacayo Street, known today as Aldamar. That’s what claims the Museum of the famous couturier, although I have to say that the plaque –above these lines- is located next to number twelve. Born in a humble family, his father, José Balenciaga Basurto, was a sailor and the mayor of Getaria and his mother, Martina Eizaguirre Embil, was a dressmaker and she taught cutting and tailoring in her own home. 

Cristóbal Balenciaga Eizaguirre (Getaria, 1895 – Jávea, Alicante 1972), uno de los modistos más importantes del siglo XX, nació en Getaria, un bonito pueblo pesquero del País Vasco, a las cinco de la tarde del 21 de enero de 1985, en el número diez de la calle Zacayo, hoy llamada Aldamar. Así lo asegura el Museo del célebre modisto, aunque hay que decir que la placa –sobre estas líneas- está situada justo al lado del número doce. De familila humilde, su padre, José Balenciaga Basurto, era marinero y alcalde de Getaria y su madre, Martina Eizaguirre Embil, trabajaba como modista y enseñaba corte y confección en su propia casa.

Last weekend Barbie turned 55 years old. Fashion icon, beautiful, multitalented, independent and polemic, the world's most famous doll has come again under criticism because of her body proportions. It seems that the world conspires against her, but I think there is something very important left aside... And this is that Barbie is part of millions of childish sweet memories around the world. Girls see her as a toy with which they can get entertained and spend a good time. They see her as an accomplice of adventures, as a loyal companion, as a great friend who you can trust your secrets. They don't care about her proportions. So, is Barbie a bad example?

El fin de semana pasado Barbie cumplió 55 años. Icono de moda, bella, polifacética, independiente y polémica, la muñeca más famosa del mundo ha vuelto a ser objeto de críticas por sus medidas corporales. Parece que el mundo conspira en su contra, pero creo que se deja de lado algo muy importante… Y es que Barbie forma parte de millones de dulces recuerdos infantiles alrededor del mundo. Las niñas la ven como un juguete con el que entretenerse y pasar un buen rato. La ven como cómplice de sus aventuras, como una fiel compañera y una gran amiga a quién se le pueden contar secretos. The Kenyan actress born in Mexico Lupita Nyong'o, winner of the best supporting actress Oscar for her work in 12 Years a Slave, gave a touching and very inspiring speech about beauty a few days before receiving the historic award. It was during the 7th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon in Beverly Hills, California, after being honored with the Best Breakthrough Performance Award. When up on stage, the beautiful star bared her soul and pronounced a speech filled with humanity that left the audience in silence. Every young girl should hear her words. Bravo Lupita!

We've fallen in love with the brand new second single of Say Lou Lou entitled Everything We Touch. The song it's magical, wonderful and creates an enchanting atmosphere. The twin sisters Miranda and Elektra Kilbey describe their music as "organic ethereal music landscapes with flowing instruments and vocals." They already caught the attention of Vogue because of their elegant retro style. Their debut album is scheduled to be released on iTunes (UK) next May 18, 2014. Enjoy the song! It's so so good and you'll like the chorus... "Everything we touch turns to gold at night".

Valentino suggests the classic diadem with a gleaming touch, as well as Dolce & Gabbana, which in its case, presents the hair accessory in golden ancient coins in an ode to luxury. Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana also opt for romantic crowns made of flowers. These suggestions live together with the minuscule hairbands we saw at Barbara Bui and the spectacular ones from the Agnès B fashion show. Wear them with long hair, a ponytail or an updo. Whatever be the case, these accessories will add points to your look and a touch of elegance.

Elsa Pataky was criticised for the dress she was wearing at the Oscars. E's Fashion Police show, The Mirror newspaper and other mass media mocked the Spanish actress. Pregnant with twins, Pataky attended the 86th edition of the Oscar with her husband, Chris Hemsworth. For the occasion, she chose an spectacular custom made Elie Saab gown, which accentuated her baby bump. Some said the dress was ugly and it was a mistake. But is it necessary to say that Pataky's baby bump "looks like a beer belly"? Absolutely not!

Elsa Pataky fue duramente criticada por el vestido que lució en los Oscar. El programa “Fashion Police”, el periódico The Mirror y varios medios de comunicación se han cebado con la actriz española. Embarazada de mellizos, Pataky acudió a la gala de la 86ª edición de los Oscar junto con su marido, Chris Hemsworth. Para la ocasión, eligió un espectacular modelo hecho a medida de Elie Saab con el que marcaba su enorme tripa y del que muchos calificaron como error. Editorial: Doutzen Kroes for Vogue Turkey March 2014

Beautiful, natural and powerful, Doutzen Kroes dazzles in Modern Goddess, an editorial of Vogue Turkey's March issue. Like an authentic Greek goddess, the Dutch model dresses in diaphanous dresses with a great simplicity in the cut and sandals. The Hellenic look concludes with an upsweep inspired in the classical Greece period, although wearing a braid around the head became fashionable during the 30s and the 40s. Cuneyt Akeroglu photographs the Victoria's Secret angel with chosen fashion designs by fashion editor Konca Aykan, fashion director of Vogue Turkey. In two words: perfect simplicity. 

Bella, natural y poderosa, Doutzen Kroes deslumbra en Modern Goddess, un editorial del número de marzo de Vogue Turquía. Como una auténtica diosa griega, la modelo holandesa luce vestidos vaporosos con gran simplicidad en el corte y sandalias planas. Remata el look helénico un recogido inspirado en la etapa clásica, aunque llevar una trenza alrededor de la cabeza se puso de moda en los años treinta y cuarenta. Cuneyt Akeroglu retrata a la ángel de Victoria's Secret con unos estilismos orquestrados por la editora de moda Konca Aykan, directora de moda de la Vogue turca. En dos palabras: sencillez perfecta.

Sparkles, sheers, dark-coloured gowns, nudes and pale tones were some red carpet fashion trends at the 86th Academy Awards. The queen of the Oscars red carpet was Cate Blanchett, who won best actress Oscar for Blue Jasmine. She chose an Armani Privé gown and Chopard jewels. Our second favourite was Lupita Nyong'o, winner of the best supporting actress Oscar for her work in 12 Years a Slave. She wore an spectacular Prada pale blue dress.
