Textile and Fashion Museums in Catalonia

For fashion lovers who live in or travel to Catalonia, Spain: set the Textile and Fashion Museum Route! There are three museums to discover located near Barcelona. These are: the Textile Museum and Documentation Centre of Terrassa (Centre de Documentació i Museu Tèxtil de Terrassa), the Museum of Premià de Mar (Museu de l'Estampació de Premià de Mar) and the Museum of Arenys de Mar (Museu Marès de la Punta d'Arenys de Mar). Fact is, Catalonia has a major textile tradition.

CIRCUITO DE MUSEOS TEXTILES Y DE MODA DE CATALUÑA. Para los amantes de la moda que residen en o viajen a Cataluña, os presentamos hoy la ruta imprescindible de sus museos textiles y de moda. Hay tres importantes que hay que descubrir. Todos ellos situados cerca de Barcelona. Hablamos de los siguientes: el Centro de Documentación y Museo Textil de Terrassa, el Museo de la Estampación de Premià de Mar y el Museo Marès de la Punta de Arenys de Mar. Y es que Cataluña tiene una larga tradición textil. 

'The colors of Chanel': why black and white?

The colors of Chanel. That's the title of the latest chapter of the maison, which explains in three minutes why black and white are the signature of Chanel. Plus, why beige, gold and red are also emblematic colors. The video belongs to a series of original short films 'Inside Chanel' that recount Coco Chanel's life and the French firm's history. Cannes Film Festival ended yesterday after two weeks of glamorous looks and pretty dresses. Top models took on the red carpet, the black and white combination was worn in many outfits and we also saw mini-dresses. We show you the best dressed celebrities at Cannes Film Festival 2014 and we leave behind the worst dressed like Sharon Stone. Actress Blake Lively and model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley are among our favourites.

El festival de Cannes llegó a su fin ayer tras dos semanas deleitándonos con outfits cargados de glamour. Las modelos triunfaron en la alfombra roja, el binomio blanco y negro se perfiló como una de las combinaciones estrella y los vestidos cortos se colaron en la red carpet. Analizamos las famosas mejor vestidas y dejamos atrás los peores looks como el de Sharon Stone. La actriz Blake Lively y la modelo Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ocupan el podio de las más espectaculares del Festival.

¡Empieza una nueva semana! Y comenzamos recopilando nuestros artículos destacados de la semana que dejamos atrás. The Color Run by Desigual Barcelona 2014

Last Sunday May 18th 2014 we went to the The Color Run in Barcelona (Spain). It was a cloudy day, but that did not stop people or "Color Runners", more than 12,000, who participated in the pleasant race. At 9 a.m. the runners were brought together at the starting line, at Plaza de España. We were dressed in white with a The Color Run by Desigual race shirt and a Color Runner finisher sweat band, ready to start the most colourful five-kilometer competition of our life. We sum up our experience! 

El domingo 18 de mayo de 2014 disfrutamos de The Color Run en Barcelona. El día era gris y nublado, pero eso no nos echó atrás a las más de 12.000 personas o Color Runners que participamos en la divertida carrera. A las 9 h de la mañana los corredores ya estábamos congregados en la línea de salida, en Plaza de España, vestidos de blanco con nuestra camiseta The Color Run by Desigual y nuestra cinta Color Runner en la cabeza, listos para empezar los 5km más coloridos de nuestra vida. Os contamos nuestra experiencia.

Art Nouveau fashion at 'XII Fira Modernista' in Terrassa

The city of Terrassa, located near Barcelona (Spain) dressed in 1890/1910 last weekend to celebrate the 12th edition of the Fira Modernista (Art Nouveau Fair). The Catalan movement took the streets and the inhabitants of the city showed their modernist dresses. Women wore embellished pieces with embroidered details and with flower-adorned hats, while men looked smart dressed in dark suits and top hats.    

La ciudad de Terrassa se ha vestido de 1890/1910 este fin de semana con motivo de la celebración de la duodécima edición de la Fira Modernista. El Modernismo ha invadido sus calles y los egarenses más atrevidos las han recorrido ataviados con vestidos de época. Ellas han lucido trajes adornados con bordados, encaje, con el cuello y puños decorados con puntas, y sombreros con flores. Y ellos muy elegantes se han vestido con americana y pantalón y con sombrero de copa alta.

Pink hues, open backs dresses, flowers, cut-outs, cropped tops and... trousers! The Met Gala, the most important fashion event of the year, took place on Monday May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET). Last year punk was the theme, but this time the annual Costume Institute gala was 'white-tie'-themed and the featured exhibition at this year's gala was: "Charles James: Beyond Fashion", which features approximately 75 James's designs, from the 1920s until his death in 1978. 

The best dressed on the red carpet was Sarah Jessica Parker wearing an amazing Oscar de la Renta dress. We highlight also Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Balmain and Kylie Minogue in Marchesa. On the contrary, Lupita Nyong'o in a feathered Prada dress disappointed us. See our favourite looks from the most glamorous red carpet of the year!

Under the motto #tudecides (which means youdecide), the latest campaign of the firm, launched this Thursday, leaves no one indifferent. Irresponsible, mean, frivolous, cruel... the advertisement is a lack of respect to men and women. Judge it yourselves.
