'Vintage In Barcelona' is the first festival of the Catalan city dedicated to vintage, to pieces from past decades -from the '20s to the '80s. The event, a must for all fans of the nostalgic retro trend and for all those collectors and amateurs that seek little forgotten treasures, was held this Sunday June 1 at the Mercat dels Encants, one of the oldest markets in Europe. The Festival brought together sectors such as fashion, music, art, restoration and collecting. We share with you our experience.
'Vintage In Barcelona' es el primer festival de la ciudad condal dedicado al vintage, a piezas de décadas pasadas -desde los años veinte a los ochenta. La cita, imprescindible para los fans de la tendencia nostálgica retro y para coleccionistas y aficionados que buscan pequeños tesoros olvidados, se celebró este domingo 1 de junio dentro del recinto del Mercat dels Encants, uno de los mercados más antiguos de Europa. El evento reunió a sectores como moda, música, arte, restauración y coleccionismo. Os explicamos nuestra experiencia.
We were many the ones who went to 'Vintage In Barcelona' taking advantage of the sunny Sunday. Secondhand shops and designers, whose style was vintage, retro, romantic or pin-up, took the opportunity to show their best pieces of the nostalgic trend. The wonderful corsets designed by Spanish artist Bibian Blue were displayed in one of the Festival areas. Also, we highlight the hand-painted shoes by Pestaña a Topos, the collars and lace necklaces by Colette Barcelona or the treasures of the shop Swing Out del Raval. Seeing the delicate dresses from Tiralahilacha was actually a challenge, due to the large number of people who were searching for the perfect garment.
The great success of the 1st edition of the vintage Festival was the retro photocall, where the most daring ones got a picture of themselves dressed in old clothes and accessories from the past. Free workshops -of hairstyling and cocktails-, vinyls, old games for the little ones of the family, live music by Just Swing BCN, The 5 Outsiders+One or Electro Swing Barcelona among many more and lindy hop dances were some of the activities that took place there. The attendees could also stroll along the usual stands of the market, full of objects rescued from years back. Outside the enclosed area, there were motorbikes of all times thanks to the Motorcycle Museum.
The Festival, open to the general public, aims to be a meeting point for collectors, restorers, retro lovers or fans of those pieces that recall the '60s and '70s and for people who are in love with the past. The main challenge is to establish itself in Spain and Europe as an authentic vintage festival in a space where you can buy, sell and exchange clothes, vinyls, furniture and antique accessories.

BARCELONA CELEBRA UN FESTIVAL VINTAGE POR PRIMERA VEZ (continuación)
Fuimos muchos los que asistimos a 'Vintage In Barcelona' aprovechando el domingo soleado que hacía. Tiendas de segunda mano y diseñadores de estilo vintage, retro, romántico, o bien, pin-up aprovecharon la ocasión para mostrar sus mejores piezas de la tendencia nostálgica. Los maravillosos corsés diseñados por la creadora Bibian Blue se exhibieron en uno de los espacios del Festival. Asimismo, destacamos las zapatillas pintadas a mano de Pestaña a Topos, los cuellos y collares de encaje de Colette Barcelona o los tesoros de la tienda Swing Out del Raval. Ver los delicados vestidos de Tiralahilacha era todo un reto, debido a la gran cantidad de personas que buscaban piezas-joyas entre sus propuestas.
El gran éxito de la primera edición del Festival vintage fue el photocall retro, al que acudimos los más atrevidos para conseguir una foto de época ataviados con ropa y accesorios del pasado. Talleres gratuitos -de peluquería y cócteles-, vinilos, juegos antiguos para los más pequeños, música en directo de la mano de Just Swing BCN, The 5 Outsiders+One o Electro Swing Barcelona entre muchos más y bailes lindy hop son algunas de las actividades que se realizaron. Los asistentes además, también pudimos pasearnos por las paradas fijas y habituales del mercado, repletas de objetos rescatados de años atrás. Y justo fuera del recinto, había motos de época gracias al Museo de la Moto de Barcelona.
El festival, abierto al público en general, pretende ser un punto de encuentro de coleccionistas, restauradores, amantes del retro o fans de aquellas prendas que evocan los años 60 y 70 y enamorados del pasado. El reto principal es posicionarse en España y en Europa como un auténtico festival vintage en un espacio dónde se pueda comprar, vender e intercambiar ropa, vinilos, mobiliario y accesorios antiguos.
Si estáis aburridos/as de las marcas conocidas y buscáis piezas exclusivas y originales, os recomendamos asistir, puesto que tendréis la oportunidad de encontrar prendas estupendas. El abanico de precios es muy amplio. Encontraréis desde precios ganga a otros más caros. ¡No os perdáis la próxima edición!
