Fashion Revolution Day Barcelona 2015

Barcelona celebrated Fashion Revolution Day (FRD) with a citizen revolutionary fashion show and an action involving 400 kilos of used clothes. In this way, Gaudí's city joined 71 other countries last Friday April 24th to claim at a global level an ethical and sustainable industry and to remember the victims of the disaster of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse in Bangladesh, in which more than a thousand workers died.

Barcelona celebra el Fashion Revolution Day (FRD) con una pasarela ciudadana revolucionaria y una acción con 400 kilos de ropa usada. De este modo, la Ciudad Condal se ha unido este viernes 24 de abril junto a otros 71 países para reivindicar a nivel global que otro modo de producir y consumir moda es posible y para recordar a las víctimas del desastre de la fábrica textil Rana Plaza en Bangladesh, en el que murieron más de mil personas.

Captained by the association Moda Sostenible Barcelona, a group of people paraded yesterday through the city centre of the Catalan capital with placards bearing the slogan "Who made my clothes" to invite citizens to ask themselves the same question. Their itinerary started behind the Boqueria Market, at Plaça de la Gardunya, and ended at Plaça dels Àngels –at Macba-, where 400 kilos of used clothes lent by Humana created the initials FRD. The action, developed while the song 'Se compra y se tira' by flamenco singer Carmen Doorá was playing, revealed the amount of clothing we waste.

Capitaneado por la asociación Moda Sostenible Barcelona, un grupo de personas desfiló ayer por el centro de la capital catalana con pancartas que rezaban la consigna "¿Quién hizo mi ropa?" para invitar a los ciudadanos a que se preguntaran lo mismo. Su recorrido empezó detrás del Mercado de la Boquería, en la Plaça de la Gardunya, y terminó en la Plaça dels Àngels –en el Macba-, dónde 400 kilos de ropa usada cedida por Humana dibujaron las siglas FRD. La acción, que se desarrolló al ritmo de la canción 'Se compra y se tira' de la cantaora Carmen Doorá, ponía de manifiesto la cantidad de prendas que llegamos a tirar.

Next event: 'Sustainable Sunday'

Tomorrow, Sunday April 26th, the association Moda Sostenible Barcelona (MSBCN) will put an end to FRD with its participation in the pioneering project from Barcelona dedicated to sustainability 'Sustainable Sunday', an event open to the public held at the CCCB of the city, which is integrated in the context of the activities of the encounter Sustainable Brands Barcelona. MSBCN will join the event with a ‘pop up store’ of sustainable clothes (from 11 am to 8 pm) and talks in Pechakucha format (from 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm) dedicated to different aspects of the ethical and sustainable fashion. And The Fashion Journalist will be there to present the association!

Próxima cita: 'Sustainable Sunday'

Mañana, domingo 26 de abril, la asociación Moda Sostenible Barcelona (MSBCN) pondrá punto final a FRD con su participación en el proyecto pionero barcelonés dedicado a la sostenibilidad 'Sustainable Sunday', un evento abierto al público en el CCCB de Barcelona, que se integra en el marco de actividades del encuentro Sustainable Brands Barcelona. MSBCN estará presente con una ‘pop up store’ de ropa confeccionada bajo criterios sostenibles (de 11 a 20 h) y con charlas en formato Pechakucha (de 12.30 a 13.30 h) dedicadas a diferentes aspectos de la moda ética y sostenible. Y ¡The Fashion Journalist estará allí para presentar la asociación!

Talks in detail: Journalist Montserrat Rossell will present the other speakers: the fashion consultant Elena Salcedo; the journalists and bloggers Sònia Flotats and Mar Rocabert; the marketing director of Humana María Fernández, the minimalist and blogger Valentina Törner; the lawyer Vanessa Facho; and the CEO of the firm Organic Cotton Colours Santi Mallorquí; all of them members of the association MSBCN. The talks will start at 12.30 pm.
