Top 10 Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

It is still freezing outside, but in a couple of months Spring will be upon us. So, we have started to look forward to what we will wear next season. Our favourite most wearable trends include: embellishments, pastels and lace. Keep reading to see the top 10 fashion trend for spring 2014. 

Sigue haciendo frío, pero en un par de meses llega la primavera. Por eso, repasamos qué nos vamos a poner la próxima temporada. Entre nuestras tendencias favoritas destacan: los adornos, los colores pastel y el encaje. Podéis seguir leyendo para descubrir los 10 hits de esta primavera 2014.   

1. ART INSPIRED

Art inspired. Clothes become masterpieces this Spring 2014 season. Lady Gaga's new album title Artpop defines perfectly the new trend. The combination of fashion and art results in garments that illustrate a lot of colour. Go to galleries and visit the exhibitions of your favourite artists to get some inspiration. We could see this trend at Chanel, Céline, Prada, Calvin Klein Collection and Jean-Charles de Castelbajac among other fashion shows.

Temáticas arty. Esta primavera 2014 las prendas de ropa se convierten en un lienzo perfecto, como si se trataran de auténticas obras de arte. El título del nuevo álbum de Lady Gaga Artpop define perfectamente la nueva tendencia. La combinación moda y arte resulta en prendas que exhiben mucho color. Visita galerías y las exposiciones de tus artistas favoritos para coger algo de inspiración. Pudimos ver ésta influencia del arte en la moda en los desfiles de Chanel, Céline, Prada, Calvin Klein Collection y Jean-Carles de Castelbajac entre otros.

2. PRETTY PASTELS

Pretty Pastels. Pink, blush, lilac, soft blue and icy shades are always a good option for springtime. Collections went strong for a pastel palette again this season. The pink fever seems to have no stop.

Tonos pastel. Rosa, salmón, lila, celeste y tonos marinos son siempre un acierto durante la primavera. Esta temporada las colecciones apostaron fuerte de nuevo por los colores pastel. Parece que la fiebre por el rosa no tiene freno. El total look pastel triunfa. 

3. ARTISTIC FLORALS

Artistic florals. Flowery prints are like pastels, in the sense that, both are perfect for spring. But this Spring 2014 season, flowers get arty, extravagant and fantastic, perfect to wear during the day. You can see this trend also in Mary Katrantzou, Alberta Ferretti, Thakoon, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga or Emporio Armani fashion shows.

Fantasía floral. Los estampados florales son como los colores pasteles, en el sentido que, son ideales para la primavera. Esta temporada, las flores adquieren una forma más artística, atrevida, extravagante y fantástica. Ideales para estilismos de día. Podéis ver esta tendencia también en los desfiles de Mary Katrantzou, Alberta Ferretti, Thakoon, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga o Emporio Armani.

4. EMBELLISHMENTS

Embellishments. Pieces embedded with paillettes, multi-layered sequins and crystals are a fashion highlight. Brilliant details in dresses, tops and trousers throw away light and sophistication.

Adornos. Otro destacado más de la pasarela de la primavera 2014 fueron las piezas de vestir adornadas con lentejuelas, cristales y detalles brillantes. Rematados en vestidos, tops y pantalones, derrochan luz y sofisticación.  

5. METALLICS

Metallics. The influence of Hunger Games and its futuristic fashion is a fact. Silver, golden and metallic-embellished suits debuted at several designers' collections. Metallics are perfect to wear in glamorous nights full of opulence and seduction. We saw this trend also at Lanvin, Fendi, Etro, Tom Ford, Max Mara and Reed Krakoff.

Metal. La influencia de los Juegos del hambre y su moda futurista es un hecho. Varios diseñadores apostaron por tonalidades plateadas, doradas y adornos con brillos en vestidos y tops. Perfectos para lucir con estilo en noches sin freno de opulencia y seducción. Pudimos ver esta tendencia también en Lanvin, Fendi, Etro, Tom Ford, Max Mara y Reed Krakoff.

6. ATHLETIC STYLE

Tommy Hilfiger, BLK DNM and Chanel

Athletic style. Firms like Tommy Hilfiger, BLK DNM and Chanel surprised us going for glamorous sport wear that brings us total comfort. The athletic stripe in trousers, visors, backpacks and even helmets were seen in several fashion shows. We could see this trend also at Céline, Prada, Balenciaga, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Giles.

Estilo atlético. Firmas como Tommy Hilfiger, BLK DNM y Chanel nos sorprendieron con looks deportivos muy glamourosos que nos traen una comodidad absoluta. Pudimos ver en varios desfiles la raya atlética en los pantalones, viseras, mochilas e incluso gorras. La tendencia también se dió en los desfiles de Céline, Prada, Balenciaga, Vera Wang, Ralph Lauren, Marc by Marc Jacobs y Giles.  

7. CROPPED JACKETS

Christian Dior, Roberto Cavalli and Emporio Armani

Cropped jackets. Boxy, cropped jackets were featured in many Spring 2014 collections, becoming the main protagonist of this season outerwear. They are practical and easy to wear with jeans or a spring dress. Firms like BCBG Max Azria, Thakoon and Rebecca Minkoff included them in their fashion shows. Adding on to that, remember that crop tops "will still go strong for Spring" and also biker and bomber jackets. Also, we will wear collarless jackets and coats.

Chaquetas cortas. Las vimos en varias colecciones primavera 2014, por lo que se trata de la prenda  exterior de vestir estrella. Son prácticas y fáciles de combinar con tus pantalones tejanos o tu vestido. Firmas como BCBG Max Azria, Thakoon y Rebecca Minkoff las incluyeron en sus desfiles. Por otra parte, recordemos que los crop tops seguirán con una presencia muy fuerte esta primavera. También lo harán las chaquetas moteras y las bomber. Las chaquetas y los abrigos se llevarán sin cuello.   

8. PLEATS

Pleats. Pleated skirts are another top trend that emerged from the runway. Try a longer skirt, a tea-lenght skirt, between midi and maxi, that gives you a lady-like look. If it accentuates your waist, you will enhance your woman silhouette.

Plisados. Las faldas con pliegues son una tendencia más que emerge de la pasarela. Probad con una falda larga estilo lady, que os llegue por encima de los tobillos, entre midi y maxi. Si marca la cintura, realzaréis vuestra silueta femenina.

9. LACE

Lace. Delicate sheer lace dresses are our obsession. Lace gives romanticism and freshness to our most sober looks. We are really looking forward to playing with this trend and createting super feminine looks.

Encaje. Los vestidos con trasparencias y de encaje son nuestra obsesión. El encaje es el encargado de que los estilismos más sobrios se tiñan de romanticismo y frescura. Tenemos muchas ganas de jugar a combinar esta tendencia tan sensual y de crear exquisitos looks ultrafemeninos. 

10. UNBUTTONED BLOUSE

Rodarte, Alexander Wang and Zero + Maria Cornejo

Unbuttoned blouse. Probably this might be the most difficult trend to wear this season, but at the same time the easiest one, because of its simplicity. Designers have reinterpreted the classic button-up blouse. Some have just button up the top ones (one or two), leaving the rest of the blouse open, and others have button up in a wrong way. Diesel Black Gold did it in its fashion show. You decide if you stay with the classic spirit or the alternative.

Blusa desabrochada. Es probable que se trate de la tendencia más difícil de llevar esta temporada, pero, a la vez, la más fácil, por su simplicidad. Varios diseñadores han reinterpretado la clásica blusa abrochada. Algunos de ellos han abrochado los botones superiores de la camisa, dejando el resto sin abrochar y otros los han abrochado mal. Diesel Black Gold lo hizo también en su desfile. Tú decides si te quedas con lo clásico o lo rompedor.
